Hi all, I've taken my Artillery Duel Network game for the C64 as far as I intend to. Playable, and supports the RR-Net, ETH64 and the new FB-Net. Info page: http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/duel/ Download it here: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=45526 Source code is here! (copy/paste into browser) http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/duel/artillery (1.0) Jan 11 2008.zip Enjoy! |

Very neat. I still haven't had the opportunity try it with anyone else than myself, which is quite lame... Would it be possible/meaningful to separate the network code into a networked game library? Making it plug'n'play with a small tic-tac-toe game (or something equally simple) as a demo might be useful. |

All I did was use Six's netlib64 library with a few tweaks and stuff removed. Six used to make it available for a standalone download, but the link[1] is dead. He gave me permission to include the version I have (which is actually old) with the game's source. Any code that's game-specific starts with duel- , the rest is mostly netlib stuff. It would be easy to whip up a quick tic-tac-toe game. The turn-based gameplay would be very similar to what's there now. I'm already thinking ahead to something fancier though that's multiplayer, with a Java server keeping things co-ordinated. Just not sure what type of game. MMORPG? 4-player Pacman? Tank sim? Racing? |

On top of that you've added a turn based game protocol, hosting/connecting, configuration, etc. Stinky wrote: Schema wrote: Just not sure what type of game. MMORPG? 4-player Pacman? Tank sim? Racing? Laser squad/Lords of Chaos. :D Seconded :) Burning Horizon has disassembled Laser Squad extensively... |

Sweet, I'd like to take a look at that myself. |
