| Post subject: | Artillery Duel for the RR-Net |
We weren't making much headway with Weather War (maybe too complex for a first effort), and I wanted to have something ready in time for this year's World of Commodore. So I decided to change gears slightly and have implemented a much simpler game, based on the classic Artillery Duel.
Download it from here: http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/duel/index.html It reuses 80% of the Weather War code written so far, and the protocol is almost exactly identical. This version is only barely functional, but it should work at least as far as shooting back and forth at each other. Notes: -The IP address is hardcoded to 192.168.1.64 - easily changed with a hex editor though (search for C0 A8 01 40) -Chat doesn't work. -Damage doesn't work -Miscellaneous screen bugs Still, I'd be grateful if those with an RR-Net or ETH64 could download it and try it out, either with me or someone else. Look for me on C64Friends as "Schema". |

Released version 0.003. Still very preliminary, but actually playable now. Basically, everything is new and improved so I won't list all the changes. Major changes though, it now uses the latest version of Six's netlib, and has a checksum byte on all packets. http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/duel/ Source snapshot will be posted in a couple of days here: http://jledger.proboards19.com/index.cg ... 1168405604 |

I think the #c64friends channel the best place to find opponents. It's the busiest C64 channel, at least in terms of continuous chatter. I'm trying to be less busy lately...Sunday would work OK for me, after noon my time anyway. |

I don't suppose there'll be wireless access at S:t Lars? I'll be bringing my RR-Net and a hub, so we can at least play some LAN games. |

Version 0.06 released. (10x closer to being finished Game: http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/duel/duel006.d64 Source: http://home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/du ... 28-006.zip Changelog: Random wind for more challenge. The game is now fun!! Really fixed race condition at end of turns. Tweaked power settings. 20% damage for direct hit. 10% damage for near hit. PAL/NTSC detection for music and timing. I'm 99% sure that I fixed the race condition at the end of the turn, but I added some code to detect it. If your screen turns blue and stays blue, that means it's happened. Press CTRL to "un-stick" the game and hopefully resume normally. There's still a chat bug that I hope to have solved in time for C4. However, the gameplay itself is about where I wanted to get it. So grab a copy now and get practicing! Official thread: http://jledger.proboards19.com/index.cg ... 1177797862 |

Coolio! The only thing left to do is a multiplayer lobby where you can hang out waiting for challangers |
