Well, as some of you may know, I like to add hardware mods to my c64.. the usefulness doesn't really matter... Right now I only have a fan in it to cool the Vic-II ( actually works too! ), but I want to add more stuff.. and I'm pretty sure more stuff is possible, because I've seen c64's with switches and LEDs and whatnot, just can't find anything online... =/ Mods I plan to add: - Keylock ( lock like on 386 PC's, will be wired to HALT and GND pins of 6510 ) - c128 PSU ( okay, not really a mod, but will give a more steady PSU ) Mods I want to add, but no idea if possible or unsure how to do it: - LEDs in the keyboard ( I think I know how to do this, still working it out ) - IRQ status LED ( I saw someone who had this on his c64 at BP'07.. ) - CPU/RAM status LEDs ( I saw a cartridge which had this functionallity, possible to embed this in the c64 itself? ) - Dual SID ( but different. this is to switch between 6581 and 8580 ) - KITT-style LEDs ( wheeeee... not useful, but would totally look awesome ) Here a fuzzy pic of my c64 as it is now..: http://zomgwtfbbq.info/knoeki_room/dsc00611.jpg also, don't worry, I still have 5 other c64 in somewhat original state ( the way I got them ) if anyone has any other ideas, or ideas/schematics about how to do above mentioned stuff, post! I don't care how useless you may think it is... :_) |

custom kernel with 'knoeki' boot screen? Im going to try to build a 1581 into my c128 (using a slimline drive mech) so if you have access to one you might want to think about it. How about CPU speed digital display/control? |

devnull wrote: custom kernel with 'knoeki' boot screen? well, I was thinking about modifying the TFR/RR ROM to make it display "**** DIGITAL SOUNDS SYSTEM ****" at the top.. because it exactly fits over the original text =) Quote: Im going to try to build a 1581 into my c128 (using a slimline drive mech) so if you have access to one you might want to think about it. nope, have got neither c128 nor a 1581... would love to have the latter, because it seems possible to build it in a c64c ( or maybe a breadbin, although with more work due to lack of space ) with also a slimline drive... hehe, sounds cool.. but no idea how I would do that... seems hard too... another something I found, was a hardware debugger for 65xx CPU's, with hexidecimal segment displays for output.. now that could be interesting too... argh, so many ideas ;_) |
